Chengyu Dai is Michigan Data Science Team’s (MDST) Data Manager, with interest in both data architecture and predictive modeling with machine learning. He’s now leading a small team to build the data infrastructure to tackle the data dependency problems in data science team collaboration. He collaborated with Google.org engineers to build an web app for Flint residents to understand their water risk levels, with big impact on both government decision making and local residents’ daily lives. Other major recent work includes building an SVD++ recommendation system for University Musical Society. He has led several teams winning data visualization and prediction modeling competitions in MDST.
Chengyu is doing his compuatational physics PHD program in University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and graduated from the best Chinese university, Tsinghua University with a BS in Mathematics and Physics as well as Economics. In his part time, Chengyu enjoys reading NIPS :)
